To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Scott De Leon, Public Works Director

Subject: Adopt Resolution Amending Position Allocations for FY23-24, Budget Unit 1908 - Engineering and Inspection, to Fund the Assistant Engineer Senior Position

Executive Summary:

The Department of Public Works seeks to modify the position allocations within the Engineering and Inspection Division - Budget Unit 1908 - to facilitate the hiring of a new employee. The division struggles to hire qualified individuals, and the individual who is currently working in an extra-help capacity has the skills and experience to fill an Assistant Engineer position, however the two allocations we have are currently taken. The position allocation table for the division is shown in the attached Resolution, and we propose to simply fund a position that is currently unfunded.

The position will generate revenue for the division by working on road and bridge construction projects that are largely funded by Federal, State and local Road Division, as well as perform in-house design for smaller projects funded by various sources
