Subject: Consideration of the Lake County Library Collection Development Policy

Executive Summary: Attached please find the Lake County Library Collection Development Policy for consideration for approval. This policy guides staff in developing the collection and informs the public of the principles on which collection development decisions are based. It's purpose is to serve as a guide to build a diverse, balanced, and high quality collection that represents a multiplicity of viewpoints.

This policy has been in use by the library as a department level policy for over 20 years with only minor updates. The changes before your Board today update the list of primary sources used by the library for selection, expand and rename the section titled "Concern about Library Resources" to make it clear the steps the library will take, and include the most recent versions of the America Library Associations Library Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement.
