Memorandum

Date: February 27, 2024

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Mireya G. Turner, Community Development Director
Marcus Beltramo, Code Enforcement Manager

Subject: Approve Fourth Amendment to Agreement Between County of Lake and Jones Towing, for Abandoned Vehicle Towing and Disposal Services, for an Increase of Forty Thousand dollars ($40,000), Total Amount not to Exceed Ninety Thousand dollars ($90,000), for a Term from July 31, 2023 through June 30, 2024; and Authorize the Chair to Sign.

Executive Summary: The Community Development Department (CDD) - Code Enforcement Division manages the Illegal Dumping and Nuisance Abatement Programs on behalf of the County in the unincorporated areas.

The scope of work involves the towing and abatement contract services related to identified properties through the proper removal of motor vehicles, tires, waste oil, batteries, and similar materials, as needed from private and public property and county roads and state highways throughout the unincorporated County of Lake. Jones Towing is also the only contractor to tow the RVs and boats, the demand for which has sharply increased.

Staff recommends increasing the contract amount beginning July 31, 2023, through June 30, 2024 between the County of Lake and Jones Towing in the amount of forty thousand dollars ($40,000), for a total not to exceed $90,000.

Funding for this increase will come from a combination of Abandoned Vehicle Abatement funds and illegal dumping funds.
