Subject: Consideration of Workplan for the Public Defender’s Office
Executive Summary:
In 2023, the Lake County Board of Supervisors authorized the creation of a statutory Public Defender’s Office in Lake County (CA Govt Code Section 27706). I was honored to be appointed Chief Public Defender by your Board on October 16, 2023.
During your February 27 meeting, I will present a work plan that addresses several elements, including the Purpose of the Public Defender’s office and immediate areas of emphasis, makeup of the Public Defender Oversight Committee, Staffing Plan, Hiring Strategy, and a few notes on how Conflicts will be handled.
The attached slides offer further details, for the public and your Board’s inspection and review.
