Subject: Consideration of a Presentation from Nielsen Merksamer on the 2024 Legislative Session, State Budget and Potential Bills of Interest

Executive Summary:
Nielsen Merksamer, Lake County's advocates in Sacramento, are pleased to present a report on the first months of the 2024 Legislative Session. The presentation will give an overview of the state of politics in Sacramento, provide a summary of the Governor's budget proposals and the 2,000+ bills introduced since January, and highlight some of the budget proposals and bills of potentially specific interest to Lake County, based on their impact and the County's Legislative Priorities, adopted by your Board during your 2024 Governance Workshop.

Geoff Neill, Senior Legislative Advocate, will provide the presentation and be available to answer any questions from the Board.
