Date: March 26th, 2024

To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Elise Jones, Director of Behavioral Health

Subject: Consideration of Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement between County of Lake and California Psychiatric Transitions for Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital Services, Inpatient Competency Restoration Services and Professional Services Associated with Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitalization in the amount of $250,000 for Fiscal Year 2023-24

Executive Summary:

California Psychiatric Transitions provides inpatient psychiatry services to the County's most seriously ill and dangerous beneficiaries. Individuals who commit a felony and are deemed incompetent to stand trial (IST) have historically only found placement at a California State Hospital. In 2021, Lake was lucky enough to get a contract with CPT who also receives these types of beneficiaries. Unfortunately, our numbers of Murphy's conservatees and IST cases has grown significantly in the past few years, along with the rest of the state. Therefore, these costs continue to rise.
