Subject: Approve Amendment One to the Agreement with GSM Landscape Architects, Inc. for Professional Design Services for the Hammond Park Improvements Project, an increase of $35,641.00 and a revised total amount not to exceed $210,341.00, and Authorize the Chair to Sign the Agreement
Executive Summary:
In October 2023 your Board approved an agreement with GSM Landscape Architects for professional design services for the Hammond Park Improvements Project. After completion of the 60% design submittal, GSM requested an amendment to perform extra services not included in their current agreement to respond to requests from County staff for value engineering, more plan revisions than originally anticipated, and completion of construction cost estimates for the changes. Additionally, geotechnical engineering services are proposed to be added to GSM’s scope of work. Geotechnical engineering is anticipated to result in a net cost savings for the project by establishing suitable on-site engineered soil modification techniques that will significantly reduce or even eliminate the need to import more costly “select fill” material. Sufficient funds are available to pay for the amendment through the Statewide Park Improvement Program grant the County was awarded for the project.
