Executive Summary:
Health Services Medical Therapy Program (MTP) is a special program within California Children's Services (CCS) that provides physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT) and medical therapy conference (MTC) services for children with disabilities, generally due to neurological or musculoskeletal disorders.
Although Health Services has actively recruited for an Occupational Therapist to support the MTP program, no applications were received. As a result, Health Services is contracting with Ms. Sheila McCarthy, to provide occupational therapy services for these children.
Ms. McCarthy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University, and over forty years of experience. Ms. McCarthy is well received by Health Services staff, and the families and children served through the MTP.
Health Services requests your Board’s approval to renew this agreement with Ms. McCarthy to continue providing these vital services to our MTP families, and children. The Department will also continue recruitment efforts to locate and hire a part time Occupational Therapist.
