DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF JULY 21-27, 2024
AS PROBATION SERVICES WEEK IN LAKE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Probation has a commitment to improve the quality of Lake County by enhancing public safety and offering the hope of a more productive lifestyle for individuals on supervision; and
WHEREAS, Probation offers a safe, cost-effective and transformative alternative to incarceration, empowering individuals to make positive changes and embark on a journey toward a brighter future and safer communities; and
WHEREAS, Probation officers undergo extensive training, 350 hours in the first two years, plus at least 40 hours annually thereafter, which includes trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, therapeutic and strength-based care, and emotional intelligence; and
WHEREAS, Probation Departments are the key connector in the justice system and our communities, working to maximize the resources available within the courts, local governments, law enforcement, social services, behavioral health systems, schools, crime survivor organizations, and non-profits; and
WHEREAS, Probation fosters a safer environment for all of those in Lake County to live and prosper, by ensuring those reentering our communities after justice involvement have received the support, services, and tools necessary to be successful.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Lake, that July 21-27, 2024, be recognized as Probation Services Week to highlight Lake County Probation’s immense contributions to our community.
