Subject:                     Approve Annual Agreement Between the County of Lake and Visit Lake County California for Provision of Administrative Services to Lake County Tourism Improvement District in the Amount of $112,500 from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, and Authorize Chair to Sign

 

Executive Summary:

 

The County of Lake created the Lake County Tourism Improvement District (LCTID) by Resolution No. 2018-141 for a five (5) year term that ended on December 31, 2023. Subsequently, the County renewed the LCTID for a ten (10) year term beginning on January 1, 2024, as provided by the Property and Business Improvement Law of 1994, Streets and Highways Code § 36600 et seq., to renew business improvement districts for the purposes of promoting tourism.

 

Visit Lake County is a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) focused on marketing Lake County to drive tourism and adjacent industries. Its board is comprised primarily of individuals who work in hospitality. Visit Lake County works with local businesses, a marketing agency, social media partners, DMOs in Northern California, and the State of California DMO Visit California to showcase Lake County through several mediums to drive visitation. In FY 24 it was a main partner in producing the ad financed Lakelife Magazine and the Lake County Visitor Map. Visit Lake County produces content for its platforms (website, newsletter, video, and social media), coordinates earned media, and directs paid media campaigns. Tourism is an important sector of Lake County’s economy with Visit California estimating approximately $196 million in travel-related spending for Lake County in 2023.
