Date:                                          September 12, 2023

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Michael S. Green, District 4 Supervisor

Subject:                     Consideration of letter of support for the Lake County Watershed Protection District’s request for Wildlife Conservation Board funding to conduct a Clear Lake Hitch Habitat Improvement Planning and Assessment for Tule Lake, Scotts Creek and Adobe Creek

Executive Summary:

Water Resources staff are working diligently to meet a Sept. 15, 2023, deadline to submit updated application materials for the above-titled grant application, including any community support letters received to date.  The project scope and an early version of this support letter were presented to the Scotts Valley Community Advisory Council at its Aug. 28, 2023, meeting; however, the letter was not timely agendized or approved as an action item.

This item proposes the draft support letter and attachment (Resolution 2023-10) be approved by the Board of Supervisors to help ensure the Wildlife Conservation Board has full understanding and appreciation of the importance of this grant funding application to hitch recovery efforts.
