Date:                                          February 25, 2025

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Jessica Pyska, Supervisor and Chair of the Lake County Community Risk Reduction Authority Joint Powers Authority (RRA)

Eddie Crandell, Supervisor and Vice-Chair of the RRA

Subject:                     (a) Consideration of Update on 2024 Activities of the Lake County Community Risk Reduction Authority (LCCRRA); and (b) Presentation on the Invasive Mediterranean Oak Borer from LCCRRA Partner, the Clear Lake Environmental Research Center (CLERC)

Executive Summary:

The Lake County Community Risk Reduction Authority Joint Powers Authority (RRA) would like to update the Lake County Board of Supervisors as well as the Community at large on progress made in 2024 by the RRA, including an update on the invasive and destructive Mediterranean Oak Borer (MOB).

The RRA hosted a Town Hall on MOB in April of 2024 with Dr Michael Jones, Forest Advisor at the University of California Cooperative Extension. Since that time, CLERC, a partner of the RRA, has been coordinating not only with Dr. Jones, but also with CAL FIRE and the US Forest Service to understand the scope of infestation in Lake County as well as to develop mitigation actions.

Today, Julia Clickard, Biologist with CLERC will give an informational presentation to your Board about MOB.
