Memorandum
Date: January 10, 2023
To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors
From: Assistant Chief Probation Officer, Wendy Mondfrans
Subject: Approve Travel to the Tyler Technologies’ Conference in San Antonio, Texas
Executive Summary:
The Tyler Technologies’ Conference is being held in San Antonio, Texas in May 2023. Tyler is the provider of the Probation Department’s case management software. This software not only tracks all offender information, but it also collects all data necessary for reporting to various entities that the Probation Department is responsible for reporting to, such as the Department of Justice and the Chief Probation Officers of California. Additionally, the Probation Department is going through the process of switching its restitution data and collection information to the program.
At the Conference, there are planned presentations and classes on such things as creating forms, collecting data, running reports, and using the system to its fullest extent so as to save time for our officers. The classes will help us make sure the Department is entering better information into the Tyler system, so that the data is correct when each of these reports are submitted.
I spoke with several representatives from Tyler, and they informed me that these classes are only offered at their annual conference in Texas. Myself and Kelly Morin, the Department’s Staff Services Analyst, would most benefit from attending this conference as we assure that the data is entered into the system correctly, assure that the necessary documents are available for the officers, and prepare the required reports.
Pursuant to the County of Lake Travel Policy 15-1.3(D), I respectfully request your Board’s approval for myself and Kelly Morin to travel out of State to attend the Tyler Technologies Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
