Memorandum

Date:                                          March 5, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Bruno Sabatier, District 2 Supervisor

Subject:                     Consideration of changing the committee assignments

Executive Summary:

I received a request to review the committee assignments for AgAdvisory and it was suggested that due to Vice-Chair Crandell being involved with the US Environmental Protection Agency Farm Ranch and Rural Communities Advisory Committee, as well as having a large spectrum of agricultural geographical needs from Spring Valley and High Valley to the Upper Lake Basin that it would be helpful to have Vice-Chair Crandell become an appointed member of the AgAdvisory Board.  Due Supervisor Green’s term ending at the end of the year, having Vice-Chair Crandell take on the AgAdvisory Board especially in light of activities surrounding the emergency declaration regarding the hitch, having continuity in membership will be important.

It is important for our local tribes and those involved in agriculture to find common ground and to navigate through upcoming changes due to the emergency declaration and Vice-Chair Crandell is a consensus builder and has the ability to bring both sides together in meaningful ways.

I wanted to place this request in front of the Board and see if there is interest in making the change.
