Subject: Consideration of Letter of Support to Reauthorize the Older American’s Act (OAA) and Return Federal Funding to the Area Agency on Aging of Lake and Mendocino County (AAA)
Executive Summary:
As your board is aware from our presentation on February 11, 2025, the Federal Continuing Resolution authorized on December 20, 2024, did not include Older Americans Act (OAA) reauthorization, leaving the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Lake and Mendocino County without federal funding.
We are requesting a letter of support from your board to congressional representatives calling for urgent action to reauthorize the Older American’s Act (OAA) and Return Federal Funding to the Area Agency on Aging to prevent irreparable harm to seniors.
As the AAA serves both Lake and Mendocino counties, a request for a letter of support is also on February 25, 2025, consent agenda for Mendocino County Board of Supervisors.
