Date:                     December 3, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Glen March, Public Works Director

Subject:                     Authorize the Department of Public Works to apply for a FY 2025 Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant for the South Main Street / Soda Bay Road Project and Authorize the Chair to Sign a Letter of Support

Executive Summary:

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program provides grants for surface transportation infrastructure projects with significant local or regional impact.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) has begun assembling a team to submit a FY 2025 RAISE grant application for the South Main Street / Soda Bay Road Project (“Project”).  The team currently includes staff from the DPW, Lake Area Planning Council, Caltrans, and Coastland Civil Engineering, LLC.  The DPW intends to submit a grant application on/or before January 24, 2024.

Because Lake County is considered “Rural,” the grant requires no local matching funds.

Once the additional information for the grant application is developed, DPW will prepare a letter of support for the Chair to sign.

Authorizing the DPW to apply for the grant allows the DPW to request letters of support from partner agencies and other entities.
