Executive Summary:    The Sheriff’s Department requests your Board’s approval of the attached Department of Boating and Waterways financial aid application for Fiscal year 2026/27.  This application is due to the State by December 31, 2025.   A minute order authorizing Sheriff Luke Bingham to sign the document is required.  Subvention monies from the State, along with County Boat Taxes are utilized to fund the Sheriff/Marine Patrol budget 2205.

General fund monies would need to be used to cover staffing costs if these funds were unavailable and will need to cover any shortfalls due to costs not reimbursed by the State Department of Parks and Recreation/Division of Boating and Waterways and any reductions to the subvention funding due to State budget reductions.
