Subject: ADDENDUM - 9:30 A.M. - Consideration of Donation from Calpine Corporation for America 250 Drone Show
Executive Summary:
In April of 2026 Supervisors Sabatier and Rasmussen were authorized to work as a committee with the County Administrative office and the cities of Lakeport and Clearlake to coordinate activities related to celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary over the summer of 2026 between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
One of the ideas was to seek funding to provide two drone light shows, at a cost of $20,000.00 each, for all community members in the county and cities. Outreach to possible donors was completed and the Calpine Corporation agreed to donate $20,000.00 to sponsor the South Lake County show in Clearlake. The County was unable to secure additional donors and Supervisors Sabatier and Rasmussen decided to fund $20,000.00 for the North Lake County show in Lakeport with discretionary funds. If other Supervisors choose to provide a contribution it would be welcome but not required.
County policy requires the Board of Supervisors to formally accept any donation over $10,000.00.
