Executive Summary:
The American Fisheries Society (AFS) is holding their 155th Annual Meeting in conjunction with the Black Bass Symposium in San Antonio, Texas from August 10, 2025 to August 14, 2025.
The AFS Annual Meeting brings together a global community of fisheries professionals to share knowledge, foster innovation, and advance the science and management of aquatic resources. AFS Annual Meetings serve as a premier forum for networking, learning, and collaborating, ensuring the future of sustainable fisheries and ecosystems.
The objectives of the 2025 Black Bass Symposium are to: define the state of the science concerning black bass and assess the progress made since 1975 and 2000; discuss ideas for how to improve the management and conservation of black bass; identify current potential issues that need to be addressed in the near and distant future; and facilitate new partnerships to address those issues.
Local agencies attending this meeting include fisheries staff from both Robinson Rancheria and Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake (HPUL). HPUL has offered to purchase a hotel room with 2 beds to cover Water Resources/District lodging costs. The Water Resources/District’s Hitch Program has enough appropriations to cover the full registration fee, discounted airfare travel, and meals per diems. The total estimate for all travel expenses is $1,800. Attached is a breakdown of all estimated costs with more information included.
