Memorandum

Date:                                          November 5, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          District 2 Supervisor, Bruno Sabatier

Subject:                     Approve Joining Operation Green Light and Lighting the County Courthouse with Green Lights

Executive Summary:

NACo’s National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) is inviting all 3,069 counties across the country to join them in Operation Green Light.  By lighting up our County Courthouse green, Lake County will be joining hundreds, if not thousands, of other counties nationwide to show their support for veterans.

During the week of November 4 - 11, 2024, I am requesting that the Board consider joining Operation Green Light and lighting up our courthouse green during that time period.  This would be our third time honoring our veterans in this manner and I hope to continue this tradition for the foreseeable future.

Lake County is home to approximately 4500 veterans, representing 7% of our population. The sacrifice, courage, and grit of our veterans to protect our freedoms and the ideals of the United States of America are second to none and should not go unnoticed.
