Subject: Approve Reissuance of Property Tax Refund Checks from FY 20/21 in the amounts of $949.71 and $771.64 to Angie Brossard
Executive Summary:
The Auditor-Controller’s office has received a request to reissue two checks that were not cashed within six months of the date of issuance and are now void.
Check numbers 808756 and 809565 were tax refunds in the amount of $973.71 and $771.64, issued to now deceased Merle Brossard on 11/19/2020 and 12/10/2020. The checks were misplaced and when found had exceeded the applicable reissue timeframe. The checks were canceled due to stale date. Surviving spouse Angie Brossard has requested the checks be reissued in her name. Attached is the supporting documentation for this request.
Government Code §29802 sets guidelines by which the Auditor-Controller or your Board may authorize replacement for void checks. The date of the checks falls outside the two-year timeframe allowable for the Auditor-Controller to approve reissuance; therefore, I respectfully request your approval to reissue the checks for Angie Brossard.
