Executive Summary:

As your Board is aware, renovation of the former California National Guard Armory for use as the new Lake County Sheriff Administration Facility is underway. Work is approximately 75% complete and remains on schedule for completion this June. In preparation for project completion and occupancy, staff from the Sheriff’s Office and Public Works (formerly Public Services) worked with the project architect to finalize the interior space planning and furniture requirements necessary to fully outfit the facility. The proposed package includes workstations, private office furnishings, conference and training room furniture, evidence and records storage furnishings, reception and public-facing furniture, and all associated delivery, project management, and installation services.

Staff secured a furniture package proposal through Sourcewell’s cooperative purchasing contract with Steelcase. Sourcewell is a public agency cooperative purchasing program that competitively solicits and awards contracts on behalf of participating public entities. Use of the Steelcase contract satisfies the County’s purchasing code section 2-38.4 competitive bidding requirements and allows the County to obtain competitively bid pricing without issuing a separate bid. In Northern California, Steelcase distributes their products exclusively through One Workplace. Consequently, staff prepared an agreement with One Workplace for the complete furniture package using Steelcase products and Sourcewell contract pricing. Included with this agenda packet is the agreement and backup documentation for Sourcewell, Steelcase, and One Workplace.

The cost of the furniture package is within the overall project budget for the Sheriff Administration Facility in Budget Unit 2206 - Public Safety Facilities. Ordering at this time will ensure timely manufacturing, delivery, and installation to allow for building occupancy this summer.
