Date:                                          May 7, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Lake County Department of Social Services, Lake County Probation Department

Subject:                     Approve Lake County’s System Improvement Plan (SIP) for the term of November 2021 to November 2025

Executive Summary:

The California Child and Family Services Review (C-CFSR) System was formed as a result of the passage of the Child Welfare System Improvement and Accountability Act (AB 636) in 2001 and modeled after the Federal CFSR. The C-CFSR was designed to improve outcomes for children in the child welfare system while holding county and state agencies accountable for the outcomes achieved. The County’s System Improvement Plan (SIP) serves as a roadmap of measurable goals and strategies to be implemented by Child Welfare Services and Probation Department to improve safety, permanency and well-being of children. The SIP has specific measurable outcomes for system of care of children and families that is completed every five years. Lake County’s 2021- 2025 SIP was delayed due to several unforeseen variables, including the COVID-19 pandemic.  Lake County was granted an extension from CDSS and has been consulting with CDSS to create the current SIP which includes the required SIP Narrative and Chart.

Lake County Department of Social Services and Lake County Probation Department are requesting your approval for the November 2021 to November 2025 System Improvement Plan.
