Memorandum

Date:                                          May 14, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Mireya G. Turner, Community Development Director

                                          Shannon Walker-Smith,

Subject:                     Approve First Amendment to Agreement Between County of Lake and 360 Junk Removal and Hauling, for Nuisance Abatement Services, for an Increase of Fifty Thousand dollars ($50,000), Total Amount not to Exceed One Hundred Thousand dollars ($100,000), for a Term from August 30, 2022 through June 30, 2024; and Authorize the Chair to Sign.

Executive Summary:

The Community Development Department (CDD) - Code Enforcement Division manages the Illegal Dumping and Nuisance Abatement Programs on behalf of the County in the unincorporated areas.

The scope of work involves the towing and abatement contract services related to identified properties by collecting, dismantling, demolishing, packaging, removing, transporting, and properly disposing of solid waste and metal waste to legal disposal sites, and securing the site as directed.  It may also include the proper removal of motor vehicles, tires, waste oil, batteries, and similar materials, as needed from private and public property and county roads and state highways throughout the unincorporated County of Lake.

Staff recommends increasing the contract amount beginning August 30, 2022, through June 30, 2024 between the County of Lake and 360 Junk Removal and Hauling to the amount of One Hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), for a total not to exceed $100,000.  The Community Development Department requests the increase due to the high volume of trailers and waste that has been encountered during abatements.

Funding for this increase will come from nuisance abatement funds.
