Date:                                          May 13, 2025

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Susan Parker, County Administrative Officer

                                          Stephen L. Carter, Jr., Assistant County Administrative Officer

                                          Matthew Rothstein, Chief Deputy County Administrative Officer

Subject:                     10:00 A.M. - Consideration of State Legislative Update

Executive Summary:

As your Board is aware, Nielsen Merksamer Parrinello Gross & Leoni has served as the County of Lake’s State-level Advocacy Firm since January 2024.  Their trusted support in Sacramento with your Board’s Legislative Priorities has been highly valuable; all four Bills on which your Board took a formal position during the 2024 Legislative session were meaningfully influenced by our lobbying firm’s actions on behalf of Lake County.

Geoff Neill will be present, via Zoom, to present a State Legislative Update.  Elements of this update are expected to include:

                     State Legislation of interest to the County;

                     Expectations before Governor Newsom releases his May Revision budget proposals; and

                     Questions and Answers from your Board.

Many thanks to Mr. Neill and the Nielsen Merksamer team for their work to prepare this update.

No action is requested of your Board in connection to this item, but you may consider providing Direction to Staff, as appropriate.  Staff look forward to your Board’s robust discussion, and Mr. Neill will be very happy to respond to any questions you have.
