Date:                                          April 7, 2026

To:                                          The Honorable Brad Rasmussen, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Rae Smith, Director, Animal Care and Control

Subject:                     Approve Request to Waive 900 Hour Limit for Animal Control Extra-Help Employees Katlyn Rosales and Amanda Rodenberger

Executive Summary:

The Animal Care and Control Department is requesting approval to exceed the 900-hour extra-help limit for Animal Control Assistants Katlyn Rosales and Amanda Rodenberger.

Funds for these positions are allocated in Budget Unit 2703, and there are sufficient funds available to cover additional hours.  The employees are not a CalPERS Annuitant, and funds are available to cover CalPERS contribution costs if the employee should exceed 990 hours this fiscal year.

The Animal Care and Control Department would like to continue to allocate additional hours due to the resignation of a 0.75 Animal Control Assistant whose position will be filled.  The employees serve an important role in the department by providing care for the animals and completing daily tasks.

Thank you for your consideration on waiving the 900-hour limit for Extra-Help Animal Control Assistants Katlyn Rosales and Amanda Rodenberger.
