Subject: (a Approve Amendment 2 and 2b between the County of Lake and Summit Food Services to be effective October 1st, 2025, with no change from the original contract but to approve a CPI increase and (b) Authorize the Chair to sign the amendment
Executive Summary: On October 1, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office entered into a three-year agreement with two one-year extensions for food services at the Lake County Jail with Summit Food Services. Summit Food Services provides meal preparation services for the incarcerated population.
The Summit Food Services contract will expire on September 30, 2025. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office requests your Boards’ approval on the attached contract extension with Summit Food Services, for an additional one (1) year term.
Summit Food Services is requesting an annual price adjustment. Price adjustments are covered under the Food Services Agreement, Exhibit C, § 2.4 Future Pricing, which allows for Summit Food Services to request an annual increase of 3% or the most recently released U.S. Department of Labor Consumer Price Index, All Urban Consumers, National Average Unadjusted, Food Away From Home whichever is greater. The current CPI as of June 2024 was 3.8%. Therefore, Summit Food Services is requesting a 3.8% increase in their rates. This is the second request for an increase by Summit Food Services during this agreement. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office requests your Boards’ approval on the attached one-year contract amendment (2 and 2b) with Summit Food Services to be effective October 1st, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign the amendment. Any shortfall in this account will be addressed during the mid year budget review.
