Executive Summary:
DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2026, AS
ARTS, CULTURE AND CREATIVITY MONTH IN LAKE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Arts, Culture, & Creativity Month in April marks the 8th annual statewide celebration, first established by the California Legislature in 2019; and
WHEREAS, Lake County recognizes that arts, culture, and creativity are essential public goods, and vital for the health and growth of our thriving communities; and
WHEREAS, this initiative unites communities, inspires individuals, attracts tourism, and celebrates the richness of our County’s diversity; and
WHEREAS, arts, culture, and creativity encourages positive change and our County’s capacity to address community challenges, including advancing equity, inclusion, and access; and
WHEREAS, creativity sparks innovation, provides youth with a well-rounded education, and equips our future workforce with critical skills and civic values; and
WHEREAS, arts, culture, and creativity can drive local economic growth, stimulate business activity, create jobs and workforce opportunities, and serve as essential pillars for small businesses; and
WHEREAS, California is the fourth-largest economy in the world, with a creative economy of approximately $261 billion-8 percent of the state’s GDP-and over 840,000 jobs as of 2022, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis; and
WHEREAS, these collective efforts at the local, regional, and state levels promote innovation, prosperity, equity, and enrich the lives of all Californians.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, the County of Lake Board of Supervisors designates the month of April 2026 as Arts, Culture and Creativity Month in Lake County.
