Memorandum

Date:                                          May 5, 2026

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Lars Ewing, Interim Public Works Director

Subject:                     Adopt Resolution Expressing Support for the Lower Lake Daze Parade and Street Fair, and Temporarily Authorizing a Road Closure, Prohibiting Parking and Authorizing Removal of Vehicles and Ordering the Department of Public Works to Post Signs.

Executive Summary:

The Lower Lake Daze Parade and Street Fair is scheduled for May 24, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To ensure public safety and allow for emergency access during the event, temporary road closures and no-parking zones are required based on prior years’ traffic control needs.

The proposed resolution would express the Board’s support for the Lower Lake Daze event and authorize the temporary closure of Main Street (from State Highways 53/29 to Mill Street), as well as temporary no-parking restrictions and related traffic controls on Main Street, Lake Street (from Second Street to Main Street), Adams Street (from Second Street to Main Street), and Mill Street (from Second Street to Main Street). The resolution also authorizes the removal of vehicles as necessary and directs the Department of Public Works to post appropriate signage.

Staff recommends that the Board adopt the attached resolution supporting the event and authorizing the temporary traffic control measures.
