Subject: Consideration of (a) Contract Change Order No. 4 to the construction contract between Lake County and Argonaut Constructors, Inc. for the construction of the Middletown Multi-Use Path Project (State Project No. ATPL-5914(102)) in the amount of $8,032.66, increasing the contract amount from $1,408,959.29 to a new contract amount of $1,416,991.95; (b) Resolution Accepting the Work of the Middletown Multi-Use Project (State Project No. ATPL-5914(102)) ; and (c) Direction to the Director of Public Works to file the Notice of Completion with the County of Lake Recorder’s Office
Executive Summary:
On May 24, 2022, the Board executed a construction contract between Lake County (County) and Argonaut Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) in the amount of $1,117,449.60, for construction of the Middletown Multi-Use Path Project (Project).
Staff prepared Contract Change Order (CCO) No. 4, in the amount of $8,032.66. CCO No.4 will increase the current contract amount of $1,408,959.29 to the new contract amount of $1,416,991.95. CCO No. 4 (1) adjusts the estimated quantity of certain bid items shown on the bid form to the actual final in-place quantities; (2) compensates Contractor for placing additional hot mix asphalt; modifying five bollards; and replacing one bollard. CCO No. 4 and the associated change order memorandum are attached.
On November 15, 2024, the work was completed to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works and Caltrans staff. The Director of Public Works recommends the Board of Supervisors accept the work.
The Director of Public Works recommends the filing of the Notice of Completion, which decreases the time for the release of retention from 90 days after the completion of the work to 30 days after filing the notice of completion. The Notice of Completion is attached.
A resolution accepting the work of the Middletown Multi-Use Path Project (State Project No. ATPL-5914(102)) and directing the Director of Public Works to file the Notice of Completion with the County of Lake’s Recorder’s Office is attached.

Recommended Action:
The Director of Public Works recommends:
(a) Approve Contract Change Order no. 4 to the construction contract between Lake County and Argonaut Constructors, Inc. for the construction of the Middletown Multi-Use Path Project (State Project No. ATPL-5914(102)) in the amount of $8,032.66, increasing the contract amount from $1,408,959.29 to a new contract amount of $1,416,991.95 and authorize the Chair to sign the Change Order.
(b) Adopt Resolution accepting the work of the Middletown Multi-Use Path Project (State Project No. ATPL-5914(102)).
(c) Direct the Director of Public Works to file the Notice of Completion with the County of Lake Recorder’s Office
