Subject: Adopt Proclamation Designating August 2024 as Child Support Awareness Month
Executive Summary:
DESIGNATING AUGUST 2024 AS CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, Child Support Awareness Month underscores the critical importance of supporting families and connecting them with the vital resources they need to help their children grow and thrive; and
WHEREAS, California’s families span many diverse structures and backgrounds, and California Child Support Services works to connect families of all kinds with support to care for their children. While each family’s needs are unique, the shared goal is ensuring every child is provided for and feels safe and loved; and
WHEREAS, child support professionals are dedicated to assisting parents and legal guardians in providing consistent support for their children and understand that one size does not fit all. From prioritizing payment to families over aid recoupment to utilizing enforcement actions that promote payment and family stability, the state is committed to finding solutions and meeting people where they are; and
WHEREAS, during Child Support Awareness Month, we recognize the role of these efforts to secure shelter, safety, and support for the youngest Californians in bringing us closer to creating a California for all and forging a brighter future for the entire state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Lake does hereby proclaim the month of August 2024 as Child Support Awareness Month and encourages all Californians to recognize that by providing for all of California’s children is one of the best investments our state can make.
