Memorandum

Date:                                          May 7, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Rob Howe, Sheriff/Coroner/Director of Emergency Services

Subject:                     (a) Rescind Purchase order #SO034 in the amount of $41,559.32 to Command Communications and (b) authorize the Sheriff or his designee to issue a new purchase order in the same amount to Motorola Solutions

Executive Summary:     On March 26, 2024, Your Board approved the purchase of 5 Motorola APX8000 all band portable Radios from Command Communications.

Upon receipt of this equipment, it was determined the radios received had serial numbers that had been originally sold to City of Palo Alto in 2016.  Additionally, the serial number listed on the nomenclature tag did not match the serial number electronically embedded in the radios.  The quote provided by Command Communications was for five (5) New Motorola APX8000 All Band Portable Radios and the radios received containing previously used serial numbers.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the board rescind the Purchase Order Issued to Command Communications in the Amount of $41,559.32 for 5 Motorola APX8000 portable radios and authorize the Sheriff/Coroner or his designee to issue a new Purchase Order in the amount not to exceed $45,000.00 to the second lowest bidder, Motorola Solutions, who has offered to match the price quoted by Command Communications.
