Executive Summary:
As your Board is aware, on February 27, 2024, your Board ratified the two-year compensation adjustment for the medical services in the Lake County Detention Facility agreement with California Forensic Medical Group (CFMG).
Like many other medical providers, CFMG is facing a shortage of Registered Nurses (RN) and has requested their Agreement with the County of Lake be amended to allow use of Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) in place of RNs. Since LVNs are compensated at a lower rate, CFMG has agreed to credit the County for any difference in cost on their next monthly bill, pending your Board’s approval.
Per Section 56 of the agreement, the base compensation amount and per diem shall be adjusted each year consistent with the prior year's annual average percentage of the Medical Care Component of the Consumer Price Index ("CPI") for Urban Consumers, not to exceed 5.0%.
Overall Compensation (Agreement Section 5) has been increased by 4.7%. Moving forward, annual increases will be tied to the Medical Index of the Consumer Price Index, not to exceed 5%. Application of the 4.7% increase revises the base annual amount for professional health care services rendered at the Lake County Adult Correctional Facility beginning January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024, from $3,947,351 to $4,132,876.50. The per diem will adjust from $4.50 to $4.71.
