SUBJECT: Consideration of (a) Purchase of four (4) fully equipped 2020 Ford Transit 150 PTV jail transport vans from Redwood Ford from the Sheriff/Pursuit Vehicle Replacement Budget Unit 2217, Object Code 62.72 and (b) Authorize the Sheriff/Coroner or his designee to issue a purchase order to Redwood Ford in the amount of $258,176
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Sheriff’s Department is requesting your Boards’ approval to purchase four (4) fully equipped 2020 Ford Transit 150 PTV jail transport vans from Redwood Ford.
Jail staff inspected the Ford Cargo Van, Chevrolet Express Van and Dodge Promaster Van. Staff made a determination that the Ford Cargo Van would be best utilized for the needs of the Lake County Jail.
A request for sealed bids for a Ford Transit 150 PVT (prisoner transport van) was issued on September 30, 2019 and sent to the following dealers:
Redwood Ford
Downtown Ford
Corning Ford
Folsom Lake Ford
Matt Mazzei
These vehicles will replace existing vehicles that will soon reach the 120,000 mile cap or are no longer serviceable.
Of the bids that were issued, only one bid was received. According to the bid submittal, Redwood Ford will be coordinating with Lehr out of Sacramento for the vehicle equipment installations. There will be some additional costs which are not included in the purchase order price but are included in the estimated costs below.
This purchase will be paid out of the Sheriff/Pursuit Vehicle Replacement Budget 2217/28.30.
