Memorandum

Date:                                          October 27, 2026

To:                                          The Honorable Brad Rasmussen, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Stephen Carter, Interim Public Works Director

Subject:                     Consideration of Continued Discussion to Rename the Building known as the County of Lake Courthouse located at 255 N. Forbes Street in Lakeport, CA

Executive Summary:

Your Board discussed renaming the County of Lake Courthouse at the October 6, 2026 Board of Supervisors meeting.  It was decided that the public would be given an opportunity to contribute ideas for naming the building.  A survey was created and posted on social media for public input.  Today the results of this survey will be revealed and a decision for renaming the building will move ahead.

Survey Results- Top Four Choices

•                     County of Lake Civic Center - 34.17%

•                     County of Lake Government Services - 17.87%

•                     County of Lake Government Offices - 16.93%

•                     County of Lake Government Center - 13.48%

The Lake County Superior Court recently vacated their offices on the 4th floor of the County of Lake Courthouse located at 255 N. Forbes Street in Lakeport, CA.  The remaining offices in this building are occupied by County Government only and the renaming of the building would be appropriate at this time.
