Memorandum

Date:                                          April 9, 2024

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Chief Probation Officer Wendy Mondfrans

Subject:                     Approve Amendment to Contract with Mendocino County for Juvenile Hall Services in the amount of $100,000 annually and extend contract through June 2025; and authorize the Chair to sign

Executive Summary:

Lake County Probation contracts with several counties for Juvenile Hall services. Currently, Mendocino County provides housing for incarcerated youth when Tehama County does not have capacity to house youth short term.  The current contract with Mendocino County is for $25,000. Probation seeks to expand the value of the contract to $100,000 to cover the current youth that are incarcerated in Mendocino and to have the ability to house more should the need arise.  This amount is covered by the current budget because the expense is not being incurred at Tehama County Juvenile Hall.  The contract Amendment also extends the contract through June 2025.

Mendocino County has agreed to the terms of this agreement and is processing it for signatures concurrently.
