Subject: Authorize the Interim Public Works Director / Assistant Purchasing Agent to sign a Purchase Order not to exceed $401,125.00 for the Purchase of a John Deere Motor Grader for County Road Maintenance
Executive Summary:
The adopted FY 25/26 mid-year budget for Budget Unit 3011, Roads, includes an appropriation for the replacement of one motor grader. The current grader is a 1995 model with over 11,000 hours and the transmission has failed. Due to California Air Resources Board compliance, it is not worth repairing the transmission because the existing engine will be phased out for small fleet use in 2028.
Staff secured a quote from Pape Machinery of Rohnert Park for a John Deere 670 P-Tier Motor Grader. The purchase is proposed through Sourcewell’s cooperative purchasing program with John Deere, Sourcewell contract number 011723-JDC. Pape Machinery is the authorized John Deere dealer for the Lake County area. Consequently, the competitive bidding requirements of the County have been satisfied in accordance with the County’s purchasing code section 2-38.4.
