Subject: Approve Purchase Order to Matt Mazzei for the Purchase of a vehicle for the Central Garage Fleet, and authorize the Public Works Director/Assistant Purchasing Agent to sign the Purchase Order
Executive Summary:
On October 18, 2022, your Board approved the purchase of six vehicles for the Central Garage Fleet, one of which was a Ford Explorer intended for assignment to the Public Works Department. Staff was just informed that this purchase has been cancelled by the supplier due to a lack of inventory and supply issues. Staff was given the option of re-ordering the vehicle at a significantly higher price, however in lieu of re-ordering staff searched for another vendor.
Fortunately, our local dealer, Matt Mazzei, has a similar used vehicle in stock and though they are a different brand and model, the vehicle is very similar to the Ford Explorer originally planned for purchase. Additionally, the price for the vehicle is slightly less than what we planned to spend on the original purchase. The price quotation for the Chevy Traverse, as well as the Ford Explorer, is attached to this memorandum.
