Subject: UCCE Water and Climate Advisor Program Update - Dr. Laura Garza D?az
Executive Summary:
Dr. Laura Garza D?az, UCCE Water and Climate Advisor for Lake and Mendocino Counties, will provide an overview of the Water and Climate Extension Program's recent achievements and planned priorities. Her work supports climate resilience in agriculture, water systems, and Tribal communities through scientific research, technical assistance, and collaborative planning. The program has delivered drought and water-use workshops, advanced crop modeling tools, and facilitated community input for long-term planning strategies. Highlights include research on frost forecasting, evapotranspiration, and vineyard water demand modeling, as well as bilingual outreach and tribal partnerships. Dr. Garza D?az will share current research directions focused on climate-smart viticulture, high-resolution hydrologic monitoring, and regional adaptation strategies. She will also outline opportunities to strengthen coordination across agencies to improve Lake County's climate resilience in agriculture and water resources.
