Subject: Approve Contract Change Order No. 1 for the Kelseyville Sidewalks Project, County Project No. 251335, Federal Project No. HIPL-5914(133), increasing the contract amount by $48,950 for a revised total contract amount of $806,113, and authorize the Chair to sign

Executive Summary:

Attached for the Board's consideration is Contract Change Order No. 1 (CCO 1) for the Kelseyville Sidewalks Project. The CCO addresses the need to provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps and an accessible pedestrian path throughout the project area. During construction, it was determined that three existing curb ramps within the project limits do not meet current ADA accessibility standards and should be replaced to ensure compliance and improve pedestrian accessibility. The CCO also includes replacement of an existing section of curb and gutter that was originally planned to remain in place but was found to be in deteriorated condition and not functioning properly for drainage. In addition, the CCO includes replacement of a section of concrete cross gutter that is in poor condition and requires replacement. The need for this additional work was identified during construction after field conditions and ADA compliance requirements were evaluated in greater detail.

The additional work results in an increase of $48,950 to the original contract amount of $757,163, for a revised total contract amount of $806,113. The change order represents approximately 6.5% of the original contract amount.

This project is funded through the Federal Highway Infrastructure Program using Congressional Directed Spending secured from Congressman Mike Thompson, as well as County SB 1 funds. Sufficient appropriations are available to cover the additional construction costs associated with this change order.
