Subject: Consideration of Change Order #1 Cooper Creek Bridge at Witter Springs Road, Federal Project No. BRLO-5914(078); Bid No. 22-03, with West Coast Contractors, for an increase of $6,062.61 and a revised contract amount of $1,496,872.35 and authorize the Chair to sign

Executive Summary:

Attached for the Board's review and approval is Contract Change Order (CCO) 1 for the subject project.

Fencing on the West side of the bridge project was found to have been changed by the property owners after the project designs were completed to enable the property owners to raise small livestock on the property. The plans called for the property owners fence to be removed and replaced with a Barbed Wire Fence, which would not prevent small livestock from escaping the fence. The contractor was directed to replace the fencing "in-kind", which resulted in this change order.

Contract Change Order No. 1 addresses the costs associated with the change in fencing materials and an increase cost of labor to construct the fence. These items resulted in an increase of $6,062.61 to the original contract amount of $1,492,809.74 for a new contract amount of $1,498,872.35. Caltrans has concurred that the costs are reasonable and eligible for reimbursement.

This project is fully funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) thru Federal Highway Bridge Program (HBP) funds and California Toll Credit funds. Therefore, this project is 100% federally and state funded thru construction.
