Subject: Consideration of Draft Ordinance Amending Chapter 5 of the Lake County Code relating to Permitting Temporary Hoop Structures for Cannabis Cultivation

Executive Summary: During the public hearing at the meeting on April 18, 2023, the Board of Supervisors considered recommendations from the Cannabis Ordinance Task Force, the Agriculture Advisory Board, and the Planning Commission, regarding amendments to a draft ordinance relating to a variety of types of structures for commercial cannabis cultivation. The Board directed Staff to return at the following meeting date with a draft ordinance specific to the amendments pertaining to temporary hoop structures.

In the Draft Ordinance (Attachment 1), added text is in italics, with changed wording shown with strikethrough (example). The recommendations include Board direction, as well as non-substantive grammatical and wordsmithing corrections.

Staff recommends the Board approve the first reading of the ordinance, and advance it to the next Board of Supervisors meeting for adoption.
