Subject: Approve the retirement of Lake County Sheriff’s Office apprehension K-9 Rex to his handler Deputy Joe Lyons for the cost of $1.00 per DSA section 2.8.5.
Executive Summary:
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has found it necessary to retire apprehension K-9 Rex. This is due to the age of this K-9. Rex will be retired and assigned to his handler, Deputy Joe Lyons.
Under section 2.8.5 of the DSA MOU, the handler has the right to purchase this canine for $1.00.
Deputy Lyons has been caring for this animal and will assume all responsibility for Rex at this
time. Deputy Lyons will be exercising his right of first refusal to purchase Rex for $1.00.
