Executive Summary:

The Lake County Resource Conservation District (RCD) is seeking letters of support for their grant application to the to the Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR) for the Forest Sector Market Development Grant with the Lake County Community Risk Reduction Authority JPA (RRA) as the Funded Partner.

The Governor's Office of Planning and Research was appropriated $2 million in F/Y 2023-24 for a competitive grant program that focuses on forest sector market development with a special emphasis on developing long-term feedstock contracts and improving landscape resilience to wildfire. The Forest Sector Market Development Grant program will award funds to applicants that can demonstrate the capacity to implement new public entities to manage forest biomass supplies at the local and regional level.

The Lake County Resource Conservation District will be applying for $175,000 for consulting services to position the RRA to serve as a biomass broker and create a funding mechanism for their sustainability.
