Memorandum
Date: December 7, 2021
To: The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors
From: Lars Ewing, Public Services Director
Subject: Adopt Resolution Approving Applications for the State of California Per Capita Grant Program for Parks Rehabilitation
Executive Summary: The California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoors Access for All Act of 2018, otherwise known as Proposition 68, includes $185,000,000 statewide for local parks. The funding distribution is a population-based allocation to counties or regional park and open space districts, with a minimum allocation of $400,000 to each agency. Lake County’s allocation is the minimum because our population falls below the threshold to receive a higher allocation. In accordance with the program guidelines, grant recipients are encouraged to use the funding to rehabilitate existing park infrastructure and to address deficiencies in neighborhoods lacking access to the outdoors. In order to receive program funding, the County is required to submit a resolution approving the filing of project applications and certifying that the County will comply with the terms of the program guidelines. Therefore the attached resolution has been prepared for your Board’s consideration.
