Memorandum

Date: May 21, 2024

To: The Honorable Bruno Sabatier, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Lars Ewing, Public Services Director

Subject: Approve Amendment Two between the County of Lake and STRATA Architecture Planning Management for Engineering Design Services for the Courthouse Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System.

Executive Summary:
On September 12, 2023, your board approved a preliminary engineering agreement with STRATA Architecture Planning Management (STRATA) for the evaluation of the courthouse HVAC system. STRATA's preliminary work consisted of a building condition assessment, load monitoring, and a final report with repair/replacement/retrofit recommendations. With STRATA'S preliminary work now complete, Public Services staff requested a scope of work to complete the design, prepare bid-ready construction documents, and perform other supplementary services for a whole-building HVAC modernization.

Staff recommends your Board's approval of the attached amendment to the agreement with STRATA for engineering design services of the courthouse HVAC system, an increase of $261,620, for a total not to exceed amount of $319,920.00. Funding for the project is included in budget unit 1671, specifically through ARPA local fiscal recovery funds.
