Subject: Approve long distance travel for Sgt. Joe Dutra to attend Active Shooter training in Grapevine, TX for the period October 30-November 4, 2020 at a cost not to exceed $3,500.

Executive Summary: The Lake County Sheriff's Department is requesting approval for Out of State travel to send Sgt. Joe Dutra to Grapevine, TX to attend Active Shooter training. Training dates are October 31-November 3, 2020 with October 30 and November 4 being travel days.

Costs are estimated as follows: Costs not to exceed $3,500.
Registration: $275
Airfare: $1,110
Lodging: $950
Rental car: $375
Per Diem: $200
Airport parking: $120
Certification classes: $400

Training will be funded through our Asset Forfeiture fund 2214.

The Active Shooter Threat training is designed to provide a field training agent or officer with high quality training and instill the analytical knowledge, skills and aptitudes needed for the highest proficiency in this specialized field. This training is an intensive training program that covers a variety of tactical subject matters to include: individual and team movement and operational formation.

During this week long training the participants attend a class on Active Threat Response Tactics, Basic Tactics and In-Service Development for Tactics.
