Subject:                     9:20 a.m. - PUBLIC HEARING - Consideration of Recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for Adoption of an Ordinance to Amend Chapter 21, Article 27 of the Lake County Municipal Code for Commercial Cannabis Uses (STAFF REQUESTS A CONTINUANCE TO A FUTURE MEETING)

At the October 9, 2025 Planning Commission meeting and the November 4, 2025, Board of Supervisors meeting, Staff provided an information updated related to moving forward with drafting an Ordinance to amend several sections of Article 27 related to commercial cannabis operations. The proposed ordinance would amend various sections of Article 27(at) for commercial cannabis regulations, including but not limited to the following topics: setbacks; commercial canopy size limitations and calculations; application processing procedures and requirements; background clearances; record retention; commercial cannabis cultivation exclusion areas and development standards; and operational hours.

Staff intended to bring forward a Draft Ordinance for consideration at the November 13, 2025 Planning Commission meeting and the November 18, 2025 Board meeting. However, based on direction received from the Board at the November 4, 2025 meeting, more time is needed to prepare the Draft Ordinance As such, Staff requests a continuance of this item to a future meeting.
