Subject: Travel to the California Wildfire & Forest Resilience Task Force meetings

Executive Summary: The bi-monthly meetings of the California Wildfire & Forest Resilience Task Force occur throughout the state. Every other meeting includes a second day of field trips that are scheduled for participants to learn first-hand about forest health and wildfire recovery projects. Created by the office of Governor Gavin Newsom to directly confront the near perfect storm of climatic and human-caused conditions that have brought the threat of devastating wildfire and its far-reaching effects to the doorstep of nearly everyone in our state, and beyond,
the California Wildfire & Forest Resilience Task Force is a collaborative effort to align the activities of federal, state, local, public, private, and tribal organizations to support programs and projects tailored to the priorities and risks of each region and bring the best available science to forest management and community protection efforts.

As we continue to seek funding to address our ongoing mass tree mortality emergency and other climate-related resiliency efforts, attending these meetings in person will provide opportunities to attend the Resource Fairs that precede most meetings will allow us to learn of and secure funding, learn of best practices, and discover new partnerships to meet the goals for a more resilient Lake County. It is likely the Task Force will create a new working group to specifically develop strategies for Tree Mortality across the State, and Lake County's participation will be critical.
