Subject: Consideration of Request to Close Health Services Offices all day on April 9, 2026, August 13, 2026, and October 15, 2026, for Essential All-Staff Training
Executive Summary:
We respectfully request the Board's approval to close all Health Services offices to the public on April 9, 2026, August 13, 2026, and October 15, 2026, for essential All-Staff Training listed below:
* Regulatory Compliance Day - April 9, 2026: On this day, we will ensure our team is fully up to date on local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal compliance requirements, to guarantee our services remain legally compliant and aligned with best practices.
* Health Equity Day - August 13, 2026: This training will focus on advancing our understanding of health disparities and promoting inclusive practices to ensure equitable care for all members of our community.
* Safety and Emergency Preparedness Day - October 15, 2026: This session will provide staff with critical training on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and disaster preparedness, enabling us to maintain a safe environment for both staff and the community.
These closures are essential for strengthening our team's capacity to provide high-quality, safe, and compliant services. I request your approval to proceed with these closures to prioritize staff development and improve the services we offer to the public.
The Public Health Officer and management staff remain on call during this time to respond as needed to emergent situations.
Your approval of this request will enhance Department morale, as well as information sharing and timely training.
